BEGINNING WITH EARTH
Works by Alexandra Rendle-Short
Alexandra combines art and faith, her spirit invigorated by raw material in nature, thriving on the wonder of God, the eternal artist. As she experiments and develops ideas, the process of making becomes the work.

Alexandra studied at the Art Academy London (2015-2020) focusing on sculpture and ceramics, which has enhanced her practice. She works with clay, wood, plaster, paint, ink, using her fingers and hands to create abstract gestures, the pushing and pulling of clay, manipulating paint, as well as the conflict between adding and taking away and pouring or splashing of ink. ‘Abstraction’ is a key part of her work, a breaking free from traditional methods, experimenting with form, colour, gesture. Alexandra is influenced by land artists, Richard Long and David Nash, and she works with earth and clay as raw materials. She has created sculpture within the landscape, using wood, leaves and trees as her canvas.
